Today I was led to go to Circuit City to have my computer repaired for a problem that I was encountering with my notebook. I did not get my lap top fixed, but I did get to share the Gospel. After explaining to the customer service helper my need for this laptop, she explained to me that she couldn't help me.
I told her that I travel alot and need my computer wireless card to be fixed as we are in different countries. She said, "You should bring me on as your IT help." She then asked, "What do you do?" I said ,"I am a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but we are not affiliated with a church, we are our own nonprofit. She responded and said, "That is great, I don't like organized religion at all." So, I blessed her left the store and went about my day.
My wife called to let me know that this lady called our home based on an earlier call I put into Circuit City. She identified with Rose that I was the same guy that was in the store earlier. The lady on the phone said, "Oh, was he the minister that was here, I really liked him."
We never know what impact we will have on someone when we honestly share who we are and what we represent.
This should also be a lesson that the world is struggling with how the "Organized Religious Community" is viewed. How are we presenting ourselves to a lost and dying world is the question we must ask ourselves.
