If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. - Colossians 3:1,2,15,16,17
Colossians breathes into us some keys to life more abundant. These keys are not easy to apply in our lives. First, we are asked to seek those things which are above. Not only seek those things, but set our affections on those thing above and not on the earth. How difficult is that for us today in the economy and world that we live in. Next, we are to let the Peace (Shalom) of God rule in our hearts. Peace is one of the most difficult things to achieve in the midst of emotions and circumstances. God also helps us to see that we are to do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and give Thanks... we often forget that through it all we need to give thanks to God. How hard is that for us in our darkest hours and daily hurts and pains of the refiners fire. Today, I challenge each of us to look to the things of above and focus on how great our God is and that He is worthy to be thanked.
Blessings,
Todd
